Bizarre Nintendo patent filing reveals futuristic gamepad design
Majority of the game controller will be the display, the patent revealed.
Mumbai: A patent application filed allegedly by five Nintendo employees on June 15 suggests that the company may be working on a unique free-form game controller.
According to several media reports, the patent, which was published on December 10, reveals a controller or a gaming device; made entirely out of a screen along with two holes for the analog sticks. Strangely, Nintendo’s name was not included in the patent filing.
The patented controller is speculated to have wobbly ties with the company’s upcoming NX, but patents are only mere ideas and do not determine if a product will eventually reach the market or not.
The patent pointed out that a large touchscreen will be the base of the entire front-panel and two protruding analog sticks will emerge from the screen.

Background touch feature will replace the other front-facing buttons. However, the design retains two bunker keys on the top of the device.

If the patent sees the light of the day, the controller will be able to project on its screen; the same content that will be displayed on a TV screen. A Nintendo representative denied to comment on the patent when approached by Gamespot.
