A restaurant in China got inspired to profit from the alarming air pollution situation in China. The eatery is putting a surcharge in addition to the customer’s food bills termed as ‘air cleaning fee’.

The restaurant, which is located in Zhangjiagang city, in the Jiangsu Province of China, recently bought an ‘air filtration machine’ after reports of shockingly high pollution levels in the country. It was only after customers were handed the bills at the end of their meals that they found about the additional costs, the South China Morning Post reported.

They were charged one yuan per customer, which is about 10p or $0.15. After people complained to the local government, the restaurant owners were compelled to stop the extra charge.
