None to chair function: Vellapally Natesan
A huge venue that can accommodate over 7,000 people has been prepared and seven screens have been set up.

KOLLAM: SNDP general secretary Vellapally Natesan has owned up the responsibility for excluding Chief Minister Oommen Chandy from the function to unveil R. Sankar’s statue here on Tuesday and said the BJP had no role in the decision.
None would preside over the function and he would deliver the introductory speech, Mr Natesan said here on Monday.
“There is a political motive in kicking up controversies. I have no regrets for exempting the Chief Minister from the function,” he added.
The Prime Minister’s Office had earlier denied giving any direction to exclude the Chief Minister from the programme. “It is a private function and the organisers are free to decide who should attend it,” the PMO said. Reacting to this, Mr Natesan said, “the one who invites has the right to exclude an invitee too.”
He had earlier said that the decision was taken “due to pressures from certain centres.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil R. Sankar’s statue on the SN College ground and also inaugurate the building for the SN College of Legal Studies.

The damaged roads were repaired and the city was cleaned up. Petty shops along the roads were evicted and normal life is likely to be affected on Tuesday.
The road through which Mr Modi travels to the venue from Asramam ground where his helicopter lands will be closed hours before the visit. Over 1,500 policemen, including four SPs, 18 ACPs and 20 CIs have been deployed to beef up security.
The Prime Minister will land at the Ashramam ground by 2. 35 p.m. from where he will travel through the Chinnakkada overbridge to the venue. District Collector A. Shainamol will receive the Prime Minister at the ground.
The function at the SN college ground will commence at 2.45 p.m. An alternate route through Kadappakkada, Chemmanmukku and Karbala has also been planned. The PM will leave the ground by 3.25 p.m.
