Diablo 3 gets more free content
Diablo 3 is set to receive more additional content
It seems Diablo 3 is set to receive more additional content, something that is pleasantly surprising to say the least.
In stark contrast to most developers, Blizzard seems to be going all out to support Diablo 3 community with tons of free content. The latest addition ‘Grey Hollow island’ seems to be a first for the franchise as it is adding a whole new area to the game, completely free of cost. The previous content update, ‘Kanai’s Cube’ added a portion to an existing act, but this time they are going over and above and designing a new area. ‘Kanai’s Cube’ definitely changed the fundamentals of how players treated legendary items, it wasn’t something new to do or explore.
‘Community Opinion’ on Diablo 3 has always been split with old school fans still upset over the games launch debacle and original mechanics. However it has come a long way since then with the game becoming a lot more enjoyable and rewarding over the last 12 months, especially with the reaper of souls expansion and subsequent free content updates and tweaks such as ‘Adventure mode’. While the game now has a lot more replay value to keep fans coming back for that elusive set or legendary item, the new update will be the first real new content after ‘Reaper of Souls’ as there will be an underlying story to ‘Grey Hollow Island’, however it won’t be like the mainstream campaign.
While each update for Diablo 3 so far has added mainly bug fixes and balance issues, this is the first time they have built content from the ground up rather than adding new tile sets etc. This is certainly not the norm in today’s industry as even the smallest of cosmetic items seems to come with a $0.99 price tag. However I sure to do hope Blizzard’s practices get noticed by others because I sure am enjoying all the updates that keep giving me just enough reason to switch on Diablo 3.
