I want to multitask like Deepika, Priyanka: Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh talks about his leading ladies in Bajirao Mastani, and his aim to be an entertainer.
Ranveer Singh as Bajirao and Deepika Padukone as Mastani… we can’t wait till Friday for Bajirao Mastani to release. And Ranveer is in awe of his two leading ladies, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, who plays Kashibai, Bajirao wife.
“What I want to learn from them is how to multitask,” he says, adding, “Priyanka is into singing, her Hollywood serial and then she shoots for Bajirao Mastani. It’s the same with Deepika. They are busy shooting, doing their endorsements and they come back and become their characters Kashibai and Mastani. I can’t do that. I am into the character completely. I wish I could multitask like them.”
Ranveer adds he doesn’t have any Hollywood dreams. “I am happy doing my Hindi films. I wanted to be a mainstream Hindi film hero and I am happy. This is my eighth movie. Right now, I don’t feel the need to do any Hollywood films.”
Ranveer and Deepika came close while shooting Ram Leela, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s previous film. “We became incredible friends then and I am happy our efforts showed in the film.”
His personal philosophy in life is very simple. “Everybody should follow their heart. It’s like Woody Allen’s film Whatever Works, based on the philosopher Larry David. It’s not right to judge what is wrong or right. My aim is to be an entertainer like Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood, Charlie Chaplin, Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt,” he says, adding, “The whole creative vision is in their films. They wrote, produced, directed, acted and wrote music. That’s what I want to be.”
About his forthcoming film Befikre, Ranveer says, “Befikre is a light, breezy romance. Beyond that I don’t know anything. Before that I will take a vacation to get my clarity back. For now I want to meditate and become more flexible, strengthen my core and start riding motorcycles again. My mom had forbidden me to ride bikes. But now I am 30, I think I can ride them again.”
