HyderabadAs many as four farmers committed suicide across Telangana state on Tuesday, allegedly due to crop failure and mounting financial burden. While two suicide cases were reported from Warangal district, one each was reported from Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts. Bhukya Somla, 45, a resident of Penpahad mandal, who owned 20 guntas of land, had taken four acres on lease and cultivated cotton.

However, due to scanty rains, the crop failed and the burden of outstanding loans mounted. On Tuesday morning, he consumed pesticide in his field. He is survived by his wife and three children. In Warangal district, R. Ravinder, 40, from Oglapur village in Jaffarghad mandal who consumed pesticide two days ago, breathed his last on Tuesday. Ravinder owned two acres land on which he had dug two borewells which failed.

Depressed over this, he consumed pesticide at his home on Sunday. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. In another incident, B. Yogananda, 55, from Ankushapur village in Chityal mandal cultivated cotton and chilli in his two acre land. He borrowed about '6 lakh from banks and private moneylenders. As the crop failed, he went into depression and committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Tuesday.

In Mahbubnagar district, E. Papaiah, 39, a native of Kodonipalli village in Amrabad mandal cultivated cotton and pulses in his six- acre land. As the crop withered due to monsoon failure, he committed suicide by consuming pesticide. He is survived by wife and three sons.
