There are many challenges, Mr Modi said, adding “the effort is worth it, because the peace dividends are huge and the future of our children is at stake.”
Pointing at the increasing Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean, Mr Modi said major powers have also increased their engagement “in our land and maritime neighbourhood.”
Mr Modi explained to the commanders, who included Chief of Army Staff Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R.K. Dhowan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief marshal Arup Raha, NSA Ajit Doval and principal staff officers the steps his government has been taking to improve the relations with the neighbouring countries.
