Belagavi: Medicinal plants found in abundance in the thick forest stretches of Khanapur region are unfortunately getting fast extinct due to various reasons in recent times.
Efforts are now on to conserve and grow them in the forest land in Khanapur where they are slowly withering.
Several varieties of medicinal plants which were once found in this lush-green forest, can be seen again if the forest department's drive clicks. In interior forests adjacent to villages of Jamboti and Savargali, several medicinal plants including ayurvedic herbs like Saptarangi, Cinnamon and Ramapatri are being grown in huge quantities.
