Thrissur:  Family belonging to the Ollur St Antony Forane church here is entangled in a dispute with the church that has even disrupted the marriage plans of one of its members.

The church has allegedly refused to solemnise the marriage of  Sanju Raphael, son of parishioner Thekkiniyath Rafael, who had filed a case against the church in 2013 for damaging his house  during the firework conducted by the church.

Some of the parish members of the  church also  took  out a  march carrying placards against  Thekkiniyath Rafael for registering the case.

Sanju  said the bishop, who had agreed to solemnize his wedding to be held in January, had  backed off at the last moment. But the chancellor of the Thrissur Archdiocese, Father Mathew Kuttikottayil, said that the allegations were  baseless.   The priests of  the church would attend the wedding.

“The family members came to talk to us and we suggested to hold a meeting with the parish members  and the priest over certain matters,” he added.
