ED raids Karti Nungambakkam office
This was in connection with an ongoing probe against firms owned by his friends.
Chennai: Officers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched the office of Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram, in 'Sorrento' Nungambakkam. This was in connection with an ongoing probe against firms owned by his friends.
Denying he had anything to do with the three firms said to be under the ED scanner, Karti Chidambaram issued a statement saying, “I was informed they are investigating three firms. Two of the firms belong to my friends. They are owned by professionals and managed by competent Boards of Directors. I am not aware of the third firm”.
The raids engendered fierce criticism from Mr P. Chidambaram who said, “nothing was found” in the “fishing and roving” enquiry and that he would like to see how far a “foolish” government would go in “harassing” him.
