Plea to give flood relief money to women of the affected families

Rather than men in terms of the report on 'Alcoholism after and before Tsunami'.

Chennai: The Madras high court asked the state government to examine a representation which suggested handing over of flood relief amount to the women of the affected families rather than men in terms of the report on 'Alcoholism after and before Tsunami'. A division bench comprising Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana disposed of the Public Interest Litigation filed by Change India, a centre for Research and Advocacy by its director A Narayanan, which sought a direction to the state government to suspend retail vending of Tasmac liquor for two months in the flood affected districts of Tamil Nadu.
