Hyderabad: The state government on Wednesday eased labour department inspection norms aimed at scrapping discretionary powers of labour officials as part of its policy to ensure ease of doing business in state. Industries engaged in non-hazardous production activities will now be able to keep labour inspectors away from their doorsteps.

The TS government has come out with a self-certification scheme under which industrialist will have to only submit a declaration that various labour laws are being complied with.
The new initiative is aimed at removing discretionary “inspector raj” and is on the lines of measures initiated by the NDA government, which has brought in a computerised system to send inspectors randomly on inspections.

The industries will have to get registered at the labour commissioner's office for availing the self-certification scheme. All they will have to give is a single consolidated return for all the 16 labour laws.
Earlier there was a separate documentation process for each of the laws. The industrialists had also complained of facing several hassles and harrassment by labour officials demanding bribes during such inspections.
Labour and factories department secretary Harpreet Singh issued orders to this effect on Wednesday.
