Vijayawada: Putting an end to speculations regarding political pressure to dilute the call money-cum-sexual expolutation case, Vijayawada commissioner of police D. Gautam Sawang on Wednesday cancelled his proposed holiday trip to Australia.
The commissioner wanted to send out a message to the victims who had requested him not to leave the case at this stage, that investigation would go on systematically and the police would arrest everyone involved.
He said, “Considering the situation I requested the DGP to cancel my leave and he agreed.”
DGP J.V. Ramudu had announced on Tuesday that Mr Sawang would go on leave, for which he had applied in November. and ADGP N.V. Surendra Babu would stand in.
Sawang says, no political pressure
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Mr Sawang said, “Considering the situation I had requested the DGP to cancel my leave and he conceded. I will be here and investigation will go on.”
“There are requests from victims and more people are coming forward. There is no political pressure and nothing like that would be accepted. We would only go by the instructions of the Chief Minister, government and DGP, but none other,” CP D. Gautam Sawang said.
“Though it is disappointing, as a public representative it is my responsibility to stay behind the people when needed,” he said.
