Mumbai: Micromax’s online brand YU has finally launched the much-anticipated flagship smartphone Yutopia along with an ingenious all-inclusive discovery app at a YU event held on Thursday.

Micromax’s CEO Rahul Sharma unveiled the device, claiming that it will be one of the best smartphones in the market shortly. He also revealed that the smartphone would be priced at Rs 24,999, which is comparatively cheap in terms of the high-end features on offer.

The Yutopia sports a 5.2-inch QHD or ‘2K’ display, as the company addressed it. The device’s thickness is only 7.2mm, which makes it easy to handle as well. Additionally, the handset comes along with a fingerprint scanner.

At its core, Yu’s latest offering will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core chipset, Adreno 430 GPU, and 4GB RAM. The device also has an internal storage capacity of 32GB, which can be expanded via microSD card to 128GB.

The smartphone will employ a Cyanogen OS 12.1, which offers high customisation features, augmented security and ‘enhanced freedom of choice’.

According to the company, the handset can perform power-hungry tasks seamlessly, along with good multi-tasking deftness.

On the camera front, the device has a stunning 21MP primary shooter and an 8MP front camera for delightful selfies. The device also features a touch-to-click feature for taking selfies easily.

In terms of battery capacity, the Yutopia has a 3,000mAh battery, which the company claims is enough to keep the phone running for an entire day. The device also supports DTS audio along with House of Marley ‘little bird’ headphones.

Along with the Smartphone, Sharma also disclosed an all-inclusive app that comes along with the device.

He said that the Yutopia users will not have to bear the brunt of looking up things on different apps, as the ‘AroundYU’ app accumulates all kinds of services and arranges it for easy access.

With a price tag of Rs 24,999, the Yutopia seems like a good addition to the premium budget smartphone market, however, there are cheaper phones in the market that offer greater portential.
