On Saturday, a crew member working on the sets of a movie starring Nani, died after he allegedly suffered an electric shock near Sanghi temple, Hayathnagar. The deceased, Pathikayala Tirupathirao, a native of Srikakulam and residing at Serilingampalli in the city was the lighting assistant on the scene and was setting up equipment on the sets when he came into contact with a loose cable.

The accident occured around 8.30am. Source reveal Tirupathirao collapsed on the ground and remained motionless. Fellow crew members then stopped the shoot and rushed him to a private hospital at Hayathnagar where attending doctors declared Tirupathirao brought dead. It has emerged the shoot of the film was being carried out without proper documentation. Police officials say they didn’t even know there was a shoot on.

“They did not inform us about the shoot. They should actually take permission for the shoot from the Commissioner’s office, which they did not,” said Hayathnagar Inspector Mr P. Venkateshwarlu.

Now, based on a complaint filed by kin police have registered a case of suspicious death and notices too have been issued to producers, for not taking required permission. A full report is expected after a post mortem.

The Nani flick is an untitled one with director Indraganti Mohan Krishna with actress Surabhi as the lead actress. She is believed to have returned to her hotel immediately after the on-set incident. Sanghi temple is a favoured destination for film shoots and several projects have been shot near its premises. It remains unclear if Nani was present at the scene during the shoot. The producers of the film remained unavailable for comment.
