Chandrabose murder trail: SPP objects to scribes as witness
The court will decide whom to examine in the defence witness list on Monday.
Thrissur: The Special Public Prosecutor in the Chandrabose murder case raised objections in the trial court on Friday against the move of the defence lawyers to examine 12 mediapersons as defence witnesses.
SPP C.P. Udayabhanu told the court that in the list of the 25 defence witnesses, which the defence had earlier submitted to the court, 12 are mediapersons and that they were being unnecessarily made the witnesses to further delay the trial proceedings.
Mr Udayabhanu told DC that in this case the media reports could only be considered as secondary evidence as the details for such reports were collected indirectly.
“In some sensational cases, mediapersons who have directly reported some incidents were made witnesses, but here it is not the case,” the CPP noted.
The prosecution also raised objections in examining a tyre dealer and a doctor of a private hospital as defence witnesses. The court will decide whom to examine in the defence witness list on Monday.
