Ente Kada to bring in retail revolution
Kudumbasree and other SMEs will be part of the new retail shopping concept.
KOCHI: Aimed at promoting Small and Medium-sized enterprises, CISSIL Retail Management Limited, a group of retail entrepreneurs, is coming up with the innovative concept of Ente Kada (My Shop).
With the objective of bringing retail revolution in the state, the group will start Ente Kada in 1,000 panchayats in all 14 districts. Each panchayat will have one shop. Ayalkootam,
Kudumbasree and other SMEs will be part of the new retail shopping concept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the scheme in Delhi next month.
“We aim at providing a marketing opportunity for local manufacturers to sell their quality products at reasonable rates. The project will generate job opportunities for 36, 000 people - 6000 direct and 30, 000 indirect. It requires minimum investment as the individual or organization needs to invest only for the infrastructure. We will take care of employee recruitment, product sourcing, payment and advertising,” said Sabu Kumar, managing director of CISSIL Retail Management Limited.
Currently, the company has listed nearly 10,000 local manufacturers and distributors and has already opened 69 shops on a trial basis.
“The individuals/organisations which run the shops will be given 5 per cent of the total turnover apart from the cost of all basic facilities. Though priority will be given to locally made products, the shops initially will have MNC’s FMCG products,” added Sabu Kumar.
As part of the CSR initiatives, 800 families in each panchayat will be given subsidy cards using which they can purchase 17 essential goods at a subsidized rate from Ente Kada.
