Militant hideout busted in Ramban district of J&K

Security forces recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition from hideout.

Jammu: Security forces have busted amilitant hideout and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"The troops of Delta Force based at Banihal along with Police, busted a militant hideout in the dense forests of Kumet area of Ramban district and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition from there," a defence spokesman said.

He said that based on specific information, the security forces launched a search December 18 that continued till late afternoon on Saturday.

The arms and ammunition recovered from the hideout included one AK 47 rifle with three magazines, two Chinese made pistols with four magazines, 169 rounds of AK 47 rifle, 53 rounds of 7.62 sniper ammunition, one IED, 50 grams Plastic Explosive, wire fuse, one hand held radio set, one sickle, two blankets, one civil dress and cooking utensil.

"The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delta Force complimented the troops who took part in the operation and commented that the recovery of this cache is in continuation of the sustained efforts of Delta Force towards dismantling the remnant terrorist infrastructure and support base in Chenab Valley," he said.
