AP Assembly Speaker suspends MLA Roja for 1 year for abusing Chandrababu Naidu
Ms Roja had used unparliamentary and objectionable language against CM.
Hyderabad: In a dramatic development, YSR Congress legislator and actor R.K. Roja was suspended for a year from the AP Assembly on Friday. Legislative affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu moved a resolution stating that Ms Roja had used unparliamentary and objectionable language against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and sought her suspension for a year. After the House passed the resolution by a voice vote Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao asked her to leave the house.
YSRC legislators strongly objected to the suspension and said the decision was undemocratic. They trooped to the podium and asked why no action had been taken when YSRC members had been abused by the Chief Minister himself. Earlier, Mr Naidu objecting to Ms Roja’s comments against him, asked, “Is this the way a woman member behaves?” He said she had misbehaved in the House in the past too.
