Mumbai: Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost, said Shah Rukh Khan famously. Kapil Sharma whose 3-year stint of superstardom through 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' on Colors ends on January 17 is planning to take the show on a rival channel.
A member of the Comedy Nights team reveals, “We are all together in this. When the show ends on January 17 we’ll take a break of three months and then return”
According to reliable sources several channels have shown keen interest in taking over the show. “We may have to change the title, and even the format as these belong to Colors. But the faces of the show—Kapil, Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Kiku Sharda and Navjot Singh Sindhu are all together in this. We’ll return in another avatar,” says a member of the Comedy Nights team.
In the meanwhile, the rival show 'Comedy Nights Bachao' which is responsible for the exit of 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' continues to ‘roast’ its celebrity guests. Not everyone is happy with the treatment metered out. One hears Shah Rukh Khan asked for his episode to be edited.
Says a source, “Kapil Sharma has generated a lot of goodwill for his show and for the channel. Sadly guests are wary of being on the other show.”
