Integrity must, Army chief tells cadets

The graduating cadets were formally inducted in the Indian Air Force.

Hyderabad: Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh has emphasised the importance of core values of military leadership in  everyday life.

“Core values in a military leadership, like integrity, courage, honesty, devotion to duty, honour, selfless service to the  nation and excellence, are a must in all what we do” he said here.
Dalbir Singh was addressing the graduation ceremony of 209 Flight cadets of IAF including 10 women pilots out of 60 women who graduated in an impressive ceremony held at the Air Force Academy. Aerobatics display by various IAF aircraft and a “Pipping ceremony” among others were the highlights of the function.

General Dalbir Singh reviewed the combined graduation parade and presented Wings and Brevets to the Flight Cadets, commissioning them into the Indian Air Force on behalf of the President of India.

The  graduating cadets were formally inducted in the IAF and sent out to join their new assignments at different branches including flying, ground duty, navigation, logistics, meteorology, accounts, education and administration.

He also presented Wings to officers belonging to the Navy and Coast Guard, who have also undergone flying training successfully. Dalbir Singh was received by Air Marshal SRK Nair, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) Training Command and Air Marshal GP Singh, Commandant of the Air Force Academy.

The Chief of the Army Staff presented Flying Officer Lavpreet Sharma from the Flying branch the President’s Plaque and the Chief of the Air  Staff’s Sword of Honour for standing first in Overall Merit in the Pilot Course.

Flying Officer Aabhas Sharma and Flying Officer Nagesh. R. Tripathi were presented the President’s Plaque for being first in overall merit in Navigation and Ground Duty branches respectively.
