BENGALURUThe South East division police held an interaction with bank and security agency officials on Saturday and advised them on the security measures to be taken at bank branches, ATM kiosks and while ferrying cash. Additional Commissioner of Police (East) P. Harisekaran said that there was need for the banks to relook at the security measures they have taken. “Attention diversion cases and robbery during ferrying of cash are being reported very often. Only a vigilant and efficient security system can avert such incidents.

Importantly, robberies and thefts in banks are committed by those who are part of the bank, be it the staff or security guards. It is utmost important to do a thorough verification before appointing any staff or guard,” he said. “It has come to light that 40 per cent of the banks in the South East division have not installed security cameras. It has to be done at the earliest. The cameras should also be installed outside and around the banks. The camera quality should be good and have a back up of the footage for at least three months,” he added.
