Hyderabad: Kid recovering after burnt with hot rod

Hyderabad: Police said that Mamata and her son whom she branded with a hot rod for theft were living by themselves in a rented house in Sitaphalmandi after her husband of six years, Ashok, left them over some family disputes. Mamata earned her livelihood by doing small jobs in the surrounding area.

Police said that a neighbour told Mamata that Efthazan had stolen Rs 300 from her home. Mamata heated a rod and burnt Efthazan’s hands with the rod.  “Her condition was so poor that she could not take him for treatment. We sent the child for treatment and counselled her,” said inspector K. Srinivasulu. The child is recovering after treatment. The child welfare department and the police assured her help to make a living.
