Sindhi Colony roads strain motorists
Roads in colony in bad shape for 8 months.
Hyderabad: Residents of Sindhi colony have been undergoing a lot of hardships for the last eight months because of dug- up roads.
The roads are causing major problems to commuters, resulting in traffic jams, accidents and also health problems.
The dug-up road in Sindhi Colony, which is the main junction connecting Minister Road, Paradise and Rasoolpura, has become a nightmare for motorists.
Local resident Rahul Mehta said, “The uneven roads in the colony are creating problems for commuters. Ambulances carrying patients to the nearby hospitals like KIMS, Sunshine, Navodaya face problems reaching the hospitals on time because of the traffic.”
He added, “Officials have turned a blind eye towards the maintenance of the city roads, resulting in various health problems.”
Another resident from Sindhi Colony, Tirtha Chheda, said that she has been facing sleepless nights because of night-time diggings. “Because of the sound pollution at night, I’m forced to go to my cousin’s house to sleep,”she said.
Neck pain and backaches are serious issues for many auto-rickshaw drivers who traverse the stretch a number of times every day ferrying passengers.
“It has become difficult to even sleep at night due to severe body and back ache,” said Yadgiri, an auto driver. He added that maintenance charges of vehicles had also increased because of the bad condition of the roads, making it difficult to tackle the already rising prices of various commodities.
While the GHMC has announced re-carpeting of 1800 km of roads with a budget of Rs 337 crore, these colony roads have not come to their attention.
When contacted, minister and local MLA from Sanathnagar Assembly constituency, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, said that drainage and pipeline works were in progress due to which the roads had been kept unrepaired. He also said that the road would be concretised once the work was done.
The minister added, “People have to adjust for some time more as the work which has been in progress for a very long time will see a cemented road from Paradise to Minister Road.”
