Andhra Pradesh gets new Coast Guard DIG

A.K. Harbola, on Monday, assumed the charge of Coast Guard Commander.

Visakhapatnam: Deputy Inspector General A.K. Harbola, on Monday, assumed the charge of Coast Guard Commander (Andhra Pradesh) from Deputy Inspector General J.S. Sabharwal at an impressive ceremony held at Coast Guard jetty. 
 
DIG A.K. Harbola is a Postgraduate in physics. He is qualified ‘Naval Communicator’ and also alumni of International Maritime School of US Coast Guard, Virginia, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. 
The officer has been awarded Tatrakshak Medal for Gallantry by the President of India. He has commanded four Coast Guard Ships. He will be responsible to affect mandated charter of Coast Guard within AP. 
DIG J.S. Sabharwal has proceeded to Mumbai to take over responsibilities of Coast Guard Commander, Maharashtra.
