Death penalty to seven accused of raping Nepalese woman

After being raped, the victim was allegedly subjected to inhuman torture and brutality.

Chandigarh: A local court in Rohtak has awarded the death penalty to all seven convicted in the gangrape-cum-murder case of a Nepalese woman. The court put the case in the “rarest of the rare” category while awarding the sentence.

The eighth accused in the case, who hails from Nepal, is a minor and his trial is underway in a juvenile court, while another accused had allegedly committed suicide. Barring the juvenile accused, all others belong to Gaddi Kheri village in Rohtak. After being raped, the victim was allegedly subjected to inhuman torture and brutality.

The victim, who had come from Nepal to her sister’s place for psychiatric treatment, had gone missing on February 1 this year. Her body was found at Bahu Akbarpur village in Rohtak on February 4. One of the accused had committed suicide.
