Organized the workshop ‘Women Leaders for a Better Tomorrow’ in the city on Monday.
Bengaluru: “When a woman is educated, the whole family benefits; when women corporators are educated, the entire ward and city will benefit,” said eminent historian Suresh Moona.
In order to train women corporators and help them grow into strong leaders, the Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC), in association with BBMP organized the workshop ‘Women Leaders for a Better Tomorrow’ in the city on Monday.
In her inaugural address, B.PAC president Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said, “The workshop is the beginning of a series of conversations we want to have with women corporators. We want to see them emerge as strong successful leaders who will transform their respective wards through their passion, commitment and good governance.”
B.PAC CEO Revathy Ashok, said, “This is a historic moment in Bengaluru’s history. BBMP has more than 52% of women elected representatives and we thought it was the right moment to celebrate this win and to inspire our corporators with mind blowing stories of several women political luminaries of Karnataka such as Leeladevi R. Prasad and B.T. Lalita Nayak.”
Mr Moona took the audience through the need to connect the generations with a sense of place, by recording the history of each ward and its uniqueness. He requested each corporator to install a “Green Plaque” as a symbol of heritage in their respective wards.
Meanwhile, former corporator of HSR Layout K. Latha Narashima Murthy recounted her experiences as a corporator and took the participants through the best practices to emulate in the wards by --showing how she developed a vision for HSR Layout ward.
