Vijayawada gears up for Christmas

Churches belonging to various denominations are putting the final touches to decorations, apart from setting up special cribs and the Christmas tree, Colleges, schools are almost done with the pre- Christmas celebrations and holidays have been announced as well.

 

Churches of various congregations across the city including St. Peter’s Cathedral, St. Paul’s Ca-thedral, Gundala Matha Shrine, St. Lutheran’s Church, St Paul’s Centen-ary Church, will witness thousands of devotees visiting on the eve of Christmas and also during the Midnight Mass. The shopping frenzy for Christmas reached its peak with people thronging clothes and gifts shops at Besant Road, jewellry shops on MG Road and shopping malls across the city. The custom of setting up Christmas trees and cribs has picked up among households. And stars have lit up many homes.
