All the 10 people on board a small Ranchi-bound BSF plane carrying technical personnel were killed when it crashed near Dwarka on Tuesday morning and burst into flames just outside the IGI airport here shortly after take-off.
The 10 on board the ill-fated aircraft comprised the pilot, who was a second-in-command rank officer of SIB, the co-pilot, who is a Deputy Commandant, six technicians, one engineer and one crew member.
The area was engulfed in dense smoke and fire with pieces of aircraft spread around. Delhi Fire Service chief A K Sharma said 15 tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. An inquiry has been ordered by the Civil Aviation Ministry.
