Khammam: Telugu film story writer and actor Chilukoti Kasi Viswanadh died of cardiac arrest while on the way from Secunderabad to Vizag in the wee hours of Tuesday. He was 69. Viswanadh wrote for 124 films, including Magamaharaju, Patnam Vachina Prathivrathalu, Gol Mal Govindam, Joo Laka Taka, Amayika Chakravarthy, Mahanagramlo Mayagadu and Naku Pellam Kavali, besides acting in films like Kongumudi, Nannagaru, Garjana, Danavudu and Rotation Chakravarthy.

Viswanadh, alias Visweswara Rao, had boarded the Lokmanya Tilak Express from Secunderabad to reach Vizag on Monday night. However, he fell from his berth at 1.50 am on Tuesday at Mahbubabad. Railway police stopped the train at Khammam and he was shifted to Khammam Area Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. His second son S. Sridhar, friends and relatives reached Khammam and shifted his body to Vizag.

According to Sridhar, Viswanadh had undergone cardiac surgery and had gone to Hyderabad to attend a programme. He had won Nandi award and AP Sahitya Akademi awards for his stories Oka Deepam Veligindi, Trend Marindi and Manavatvaniki Maro Konam. He also wrote a book Swarna Yugam on the Telugu film industry’s journey for 35 years, between 1931 and 2015. He organised cultural events in Vizag to raise funds for Police Welfare Fund.
His dialogue “Desam Chala Klista Paristhitilo Undi” written in “Patnam Vachina Prativratalu” won him accolades and made Nutan Prasad, who delivered the dialogue onscreen, popular.
