Karimnagar: Sardar Balvinder Singh, the techie who went berserk in Karimnagar, slashed at the hand of G. Srimannarayana, an autorickshaw driver who was picking up students of a private school, and two constables. All this happened within a span of 30 minutes.

Karimnagar town Inspector J Vijayasaradhi said, “In an unavoidable situation, I had to open fire on him because Balvinder attacked civilians and constables Ali and Mallaiah and damaged the side mirror of my vehicle. The techie even grabbed Mallaiah’s weapon for confronting him. He was attacking people indiscriminately.”

“I was aiming my rifle at Balvinder Singh in order to overpower him as he was attacking civilians on the main road. But he grasped the weapon by hitting me on my hand and I fell. I would have been killed by him if the inspector had not opened fire on him. Members of the public would have been shot as the weapon was loaded,” said Mr Mallaiah, who received a wound on his left wrist.
