BENGALURU: Four juveniles, who have been convicted of rape, are housed at the government-run Boys’ Observation Home in the city. The reformation centre has a total strength of 24 juvenile criminals. These juveniles are treated like any other children and are provided with education. Also, several activities are conducted and counseling sessions by professionals held to reform these inmates.

“The theory of criminology says that criminals are the first victim of society, so are the children lodged at observation homes. Socio-economic-psychological reasons make these children commit some crimes. There is a need to reform them at observation homes. These juveniles need a support system to help them become normal and integrate with society,” said former DG & IGP S.T. Ramesh.
