Karimnagar: Police drew criticism for shooting Balvinder Singh on Tuesday morning. Relatives and members of the Sikh community condemned the act of inspector J. Vijayasaradhi. Ranveer Singh, a cousin of the deceased, faulted the cops for shooting Singh in the chest.

He said that they could have shot at his legs or fired in the air to frighten him.  “Police had not killed terrorist Ajmal Kasab during 26/11,” pointed out another relative. Mr S. Balbeer Singh, secretary of Telangana State Sikh Employees Welfare Association, said that the police should not have killed Singh as he was not a terrorist or a rowdy-sheeter.

“He did not how to use a talwar. He used the sword for the first time... He should not been shot,” observed Mr Jajbeer Singh, a Sikh priest who trains members of the religion in using the talwar.
