Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan has given the go-ahead to Ritesh Sinha and Rakesh Upadhyay to make a biopic on his life.
In fact, Khan has even agreed to train the actor who will play him on the big screen. The talks, we hear, were finalised when co-producers Ritesh and Rakesh met Khan at his Islamabad residence to discuss the prospect of the film in October.
A source said, “The meeting at his residence was planned much in advance through a common friend in Pakistan. The discussion lasted for several hours where Ritesh and Rakesh explained the entire concept and shared their plans in detail. The meeting was fruitful but the logistics need to be worked out.”
To prepare the on-screen Imran Khan for his role, the cricketer has agreed to train the actor in bowling action apart from some other mannerisms peculiar to him. The training will happen at Khan’s London residence.
Adds the source, “Rakesh and Ritesh also met Imran’s team member Mohin Khan to know about the other aspects of his life, since Mohin and Imran have been friends for years. They also plan to meet other cricketers such as Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram to get more information about him.”
Buzz is that the film will be made in Hindi and English to reach as many people as possible.
Ritesh recently directed an international film titled Promise Day, which got critical acclaim.
