Hyderabad: Seven women who were allegedly playing cards at a kitty party in a flat were arrested on Wednesday. Cyberabad Police recovered '24,470 and seven cell phones from their possession.
According to cops, the Cyberabad Special Operation Team raided the flat at Vanamali Apartments, Green Hills Colony, Kothapet, under the Chaitanyapuri police station limits at about 5 pm.
The women were said to be residents of Tarnaka, LB Nagar, Saroornagar and Kothapet. “The team caught them redhanded while playing cards and arrested them,” said Chaitanyapuri sub-inspector Kotaiah.
A case under the AP Gaming Act was registered against them.
Police officials said that one of the women, K. They got together and started playing few months ago, and more members joined later due word of mouth,” said SOT inspector N. Ch. Ranga Swamy. Police had received a tip off about Ms Anitha few days ago.
After the arrest, all women were handed over to Chaitanyapuri police station, where they remained till the evening. “Since all of them secured bail by paying surety, we let them off in the evening,” said an official.
