New Delhi: Darbhanga MP and cricketer-politician Kirti Azad was suspended on Wednesday by BJP president Amit Shah for “anti-party activities” and for “colluding with the Congress and AAP”. Mr Azad had been targeting Mr Jaitley over the DDCA issue and the Opposition parties have been demanding Mr Jaitley’s resignation.

Mr Azad, reacting to his suspension, termed the party’s decision as “unfortunate” and said: “Wait and watch what I do next. Now I will tell it all to everyone.” The Opposition parties attacked the BJP for acting against Mr Azad, saying “honest voices are muzzled to protect corruption.”

The only support that Mr Azad got was from his Bihar party colleague and star MP Shatrughan Sinha, who has anyway been breathing fire against his party for some time. Earlier, on Wednesday, Mr Sinha had asked Mr Jaitley to follow party veteran Lal Krishna Advani’s example in the Jain hawala case by resigning and to “come clean” as “advised” by the PM.
