After trying out comedy in his first three films, actor Udhayanidhi Stalin has stepped out of his comfort zone, attempting action for his upcoming flick Gethu. Amy Jackson plays his romantic interest in the film. ‘Gethu’ in North Madras slang means ‘a man with a dominating personality’. Talking about his experience on working with veteran Sathyaraj, who essays his dad in the crime thriller, Udhay says that Sathyaraj always keeps the entire sets on splits. “Even during break sessions, he used to narrate some of the funny incidents that happened during the 80 and 90s with Goudamani sir,” he smiles.
Recalling an interesting incident, of how actor Karuna was eager to save Amy’s life while shooting on a hilly terrain, Udhay says, “We were filming a bike scene, where I had to chase Amy. I was given a scooter that had no brakes, while Amy was riding an old Luna. Karuna and I noticed a huge pit in front of us. Oblivious of that fact, Amy was riding despite us shouting ‘stop’. I really appreciate Karuna’s presence of mind at that moment (laughs). He jumped off the scooter, ran fast and stopped her vehicle.” Heaping praises on Amy, Udhay tells us that she is a dedicated artist. “Amy would write all her dialogues in English, memorise them the previous night and come to the sets prepared the next day. She would complete all her shots — in just a single take,” he concludes.
