Arrested trio wanted to join any terror unit
Police said the trio had not decided which Hurriyat leader to meet.
Hyderabad: The trio arrested in Nagpur wanted to walk into the office of the separatist Hurriyat Conference group in Srinagra and find radicalised hardliners and take their help to join any terror outfit.
The suspicion is that they wanted to go to Afghanistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from Srinagar and join either the ISIS or a terror group operating in Kashmir.
A top police official of Telangana said, “At this moment we are yet to ascertain their exact plan. But from Srinagar they wanted to contact someone who could help them join a fundamentalist jihadi organization.
Their initial plan was to take the help of any radicalised Hurriyat leader and join the Al Qaeda or a Kashmiri terror group or the ISIS. This was the broad idea. So far our information is that this time their plan is not specifically the ISIS. They wanted to stay for some time in Srinagar and chalk out their future course of action.”
Police said the trio had not decided which Hurriyat leader to meet. They just wanted to walk into the office of the Hurriyat Conference. The trio was under observation of the TS police since September 2014 when they were caught the first time. After they were counselled last year, their parents had tightened their movements including stopping them from using the internet.
The suspects hail from middle class families. The last time when they were caught they had admitted to being radicalised through the Internet. They used to watch jihadi extremist websites and FB pages, they had said.
