CM Oommen Chandy vows to aid cine sector

45th state film awards distributed amidst fanfare.

Kottayam: The 45th state film awards were distributed at a function held at the police parade ground here on Saturday evening.   Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who inaugurated the  function, promised all government assistance for  cinema,  the main entertainment medium for the common man.   Actor Mohanlal, chief guest,  hai-led the  government for encouraging the cinema sector.  
 
Sports and Cinema minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan presided. Cultural Affairs Minister K.C. Joseph released  the ‘award book’  by handing it over to  Minister of Local Self-Government Dr M.K. Muneer. 
 
Veteran director I.V. Sasi received the JC Daniel award from Mr  Chandy.  Jayaraj, director of ‘Ottal,’ was presented  Rs 2 lakh  and citation. 
 
Nasria Nazeen,  best actress (Bangalore Days and Om Shanthi Oshana),  Anoop Menon, best character actor, Sethulakshmi (character actress), Mas-ter Adwaidh  and Anna Fathima (best child acto-rs),  Siddharth Siva (story writer), Anjaly Menon (screenplay), O.S. Unnik-irshnan (lyrics), Ramesh Narayanan (music composer), Biji Bal (background music), Lijo Paul (editing), Indulal Kaveedu (art direction), Harikumar (sound mixing) and  Thapas Nayak (sound designer) among others received '50, 000,  sculpture and citation.
 
Nivin Pauly, who was selected as the best actor for his performance (Bangalore days and 1983) shared the award with Sudev Nair (My Life Partner). 
 
Jude Antony Joseph received the award for the popular and film having artistic excellence. Producer Alwin Antony and Abrid Shine received  Rs 1 lakh each  for their movie 1983.
V.K. Joseph received the award for the best book on cinema, (The cinema  language of survival),  Ravi Menon for the best essay on cinema (Shabd-halokathey Kaliman Ga-dha) and K.C. Jayacha-ndran for Payalu Poley Pranayam.    Prathap Po-then got the special jury award.  
 
Earlier,  MG University VC and chairman of the organising committee Dr Babu Sebastian welcomed the gathering.  Chalachithra Academy chairman Rajeev Nath was also present. A music concert led by singer Madhu Balakri-shnan was held later  in which singers Sudeep Kumar,   Sithara and others participated.
