Temporary Secretariat to be set up at Nowluru
CRDA plans to begin work on temporary Secretariat before February, 2016.
Guntur: The AP government has decided to establish a 6,00,000 sq. ft. state Secretariat in the vacant 102 acres of Amaravati Township at Nowluru, barely two km from Mangalagiri, till the construction of permanent buildings in Rayapudi is completed.
The Amaravati Township was first proposed in 1988, but the proposal had remained on paper. The government’s decision will mean that it would come into use after 26 years.
On Sunday, CRDA officials cleared the overgrowth and installed stones demarcating the land, a clear indication that work on the temporary Secretariat may begin soon.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had earlier directed the CRDA to call tenders for the temporary Secretariat. This process is expected to start in the first week of January. The CRDA plans to complete the work by June 2016.
The proposal for utilising Amaravati Township for the temporary Secretariat was first mooted in January this year, but was rejected.
With the CM making it clear that the employees would have to shift to the capital region by June, 2016, the temporary Secretariat has become a necessity.
Nowluru is located just two km from Mangalagiri, opposite the ACA international cricket stadium and has rail and road connectivity. It is also directly connected to Tullur through Amaravati road from Mangalagiri. Trains are available from Mangalagiri railway station, making it convenient for the officials to reach Nowluru.
