BJP demands probe into Tunga canal renovation
While awarding the tender, norms of the Karnataka Transparency in Procurement Act were violated, they alleged.
Bengaluru: Opposition leader in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa and MP Ayanur Manjunath have urged the Lokayukta Registrar to conduct a probe into the alleged irregularities in the Tunga canal renovation project.
In a complaint, the BJP leaders stated that for renovation of the canal, government had invited a tender for Rs 127.30 crore, instead of inviting a long-term tender. To ensure that the tender was awarded to M/s Ramalingam Construction company, it was hurriedly approved by the Executives Engineer, Superintendent Engineer and Chief Engineer of KNN in a day. While awarding the tender, norms of the Karnataka Transparency in Procurement Act were violated, they alleged.
