VisakhapatnamIt’s been more than a year since the UK-based Eros Investments Ltd. (EIL) signed an MoU with the state government regarding setting up an Entertainment City in AP. The year is coming to an end, but there has been no progress nor does any government department know about the big ticket investment project.

The AP government signed an MoU with Eros in November last year. Though there was no official announcement that Eros Entertainment City would be located in Vizag, senior officials had said that this would be so as the project needed a beach front site and the city had the infrastructure to develop such a facility.
“Until now there has been no movement on the project nor have we got any note from the government regarding acquiring land for it. We don’t have any idea which department is dealing with this project,” said an AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) official.

The non-availability of suitable land is said to be a factor that has slowed things down. The only available beach front is a huge chunk of 1,750 acres in Kapuluppada, suitable for such a project. But the state government has decided to develop an exclusive IT layout there to attract investment to the IT sector.
