Hindutva is the credo of Gandhi assassins: MLA V T Balram

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MLA V.T. Balram has come down heavily on Hindu and Hindutva forces alleging that the difference between the two is like Islam and the Islamist State. In a Facebook post titled ‘Controversy? What controversy?’ he has provided ammunition for yet another controversy.
The youth brigade MLA claims that Hindutva is actually the ideology of Sangh Parivar which is rooted in fascism. Hindutva does not have any direct role with the normal Hindu community as it has abandoned its beliefs and cultural tradition.
“It was V. D. Savarkar, the leader of Hindu Maha Sabha and also the kingpin in the killing of Mahatma Gandhi, who was instrumental in coining the word, Hindutva. It is actually the ideology practised by the assassins of Mahatma Gandhi,” said Mr Balram.
He urged that people should accommodate Indian tradition and values, but lamented that intolerance was being promoted.
