Karimnagar: TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, along his family members, visited the ancient Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada and performed special prayers on Monday.
He was accompanied by his wife Shobha, Nizamabad MP and daughter K. Kavita, finance minister Etela Rajender, Chief Whip K. Eshwar, cultural department chairman Rasamayi Balakishan and Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar.
Priests and temple executive officer D. Rajeshwar Rao accorded a grand reception to the CM with a Purna Kumbham.
Mr Rao reached the temple at 2.45 pm, a delay of over four hours.
The CM undertook this pilgrimage as per the advice of seers of Sringeri Sharada Peetham, following the conclusion of the Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam at Erravalli in Medak.
Mr Rao had darshan of goddess Sri Raja Rajeswara Devi and later Lord Shiva, principal deity of the historical shrine. He circumambulated the temple and performed Laxmi Ganapati puja, Rudabhishekam, Sri Matha puja and Sri Raja Rajeshwari puja. He also offered traditional Kode Mukku to the deity.
These special prayers were held under the aegis of vedic pundit Puranam Maheshwara Sharma.
Later, Mr Rao enquired about the progress of temple developmental works.
