Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan will lead the indefinite ‘hunger stir’ of endosulfan victims  in front of Cliff House from  January 26, Republic Day.

Mr Achuthanandan said the agitation was  to protest against the government's failure to implement even a single assurance given to the  victims by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at a meeting held in his Assembly complex chamber in January last year.

After a protest staged in front of Cliff  House by the mothers and victims of  endosulfan, the government had made tall promises to resolve their issues.

He said all these promises remained on paper and  the government failed to take any initiative to provide relief to the victims.

At that time, Agriculture Minister K.P. Mohanan was deputed to speak to the action committee members. But nothing fruitful had emerged.

Under these circumstances,  the joint action committee planned to agitate. He sought the support of all sections of society for the success of the stir.
