Bengaluru Lokayukta police ‘mines’ Janardhan Reddy for illegal wealth

Lokayukta sleuths simultaneously raided seven premises belonging to him across the state.

Ballari: The Bengaluru Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided ex-minister and mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy after filing a new FIR against him for amassing disproportionate assets.

The anti-corruption agency charged him with accumulating illegal assets when he was an MLC and minister in the previous BJP government. The Lokayukta sleuths simultaneously raided seven premises belonging to him across the state. As many as 42 Lokayukta sleuths, headed by SP Sonia Narang, started searching the two residences of Mr Reddy and the office of his Obulapuram Mining Company here from morning 8 am. The search continued till 5 pm.

Soon after the raids, Mr Reddy’s close aide and Ballari BJP MP B. Sriramulu accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of indulging in politics of vendetta. “Mr Siddaramaiah is using the Lokayukta to finish off the my and Mr Reddy’s political careers,” he alleged.
