Telangana: 2BHK hopefuls line up

Hyderabad: Hopefuls have started thronging the Secretariat to submit applications seeking free 2BHK houses for the poor being constructed in about 20 locations.

 

Following rumours that the eligible needed to submit applications at the Secretariat, scores of people, mostly women, reached the place, along with applications. 

 

However, the security personnel refused them entry passes, resulting in arguments between the two sides. 

 

Some applicants who managed to get local leaders recommend passes were sent back by officials who told them that there was no provision to submit applications at the Secretariat. 

 

Applicants even tried to enter the CMO block, but were prevented by the security personnel.

 

The rush for 2BHK houses began on Monday when about 200 visitors waited in queues in front of main entrance of the AP Secretariat.

 

Since the new entrance for TS Secretariat has no provision to issue visitor passes, security personnel continue to issue passes for TS visitors at the AP Secretariat gate. Visitor obtain passes at the AP Secretariat and reach the TS Secretariat.

 

On Tuesday, the number of hopefuls doubled, with about 500 visitors trying to obtain passes. The security staff refused, saying that they had no instructions fr-om to allow people inside for 2BHK houses.

 

With this, some people started taking passes saying they had to submit applications for CM’s Relief Fund. Those who got these passes tried to enter the CMO Block to submit applications for 2BHK houses.

 

A majority of the applicants were women, since the government has decided to allot houses to women.

 

“I have been visiting Hyderabad collectorate every Monday for the last three months to submit an application for a 2BHK house. But officials are not accepting my application. On Monday, some leaders told us that it would be better to submit applications at Secretariat. The word spread and we reached the Secretariat. However, the situation remains the same here, no one is receiving our applications,” said Borra Satyavati, a resident of Sanathnagar.

 

Meanwhile, housing minister A. Indrakaran Reddy urged people not to come to the Secretariat or the collector offices for houses.
