'Dilwale' leads the worldwide box office battle against 'Bajirao Mastani'

Shah Rukh's movie has managed to rake in Rs 145 crore at the global box office.

Mumbai: The two most anticipated films of the year – Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ locked horns on December 18. After two weekends, the two are almost pacing close to each other.

While Shah Rukh Khan's film is a wholesome family entertainer with a star cast that spells magic, Ranveer's film is a period film catering to selective audience. 

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s ‘Dilwale’ might have lost the domestic box office battle to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ but it has had one stupendous run in the overseas markets.

Even though the intolerance ban has affected many key centres in the country, the film has perform exceedingly well at the worldwide box office.

According to reports, Shah Rukh’s film had raced past ‘Bajirao Mastani’ at the global box office by raking in Rs 145 crore in three days whereas BM grossed only a meager Rs 90 crore.

Now, after its second Monday, ‘Dilwale’ is still leading the worldwide box office battle with a huge sum of Rs 284 crore. 'Bajirao Mastani' has now grossed around Rs 250 crore and the global box office battle is slowly narrowing as well.
