AIADMK elects Jayalalithaa as general secretary for seventh time
Party members lauded Jayalalithaa for ensuring AIADMK's victory in all state polls since 2011.
Chennai: Switching to poll mode, the ruling AIADMK on Thursday authorised party general secretary and chief MInister J Jayalalithaa to take all election-related decisions as the state goes to assembly polls next year.
The party's key decision-making body, General Council, adopted a resolution in this regard here.
"In order to ensure AIADMK's victory in the 2016 assembly elections, this general council authorises party General Secretary Amma (as Jayalalithaa is popularly known) to take all election-related decisions," the resolution, proposed by Presidium Chairman E Madhusudhnan and seconded by all GC members, said.
The party members also lauded Jayalalithaa for ensuring AIADMK's victory in all polls held in the state since 2011, when it captured power, crediting the Chief Minister's political acumen for the unbeatable track record.
In another resolution, the party vowed to work efficiently in the elections to ensure that Jayalalithaa assumes the office of Chief Minister for the sixth time next year.
"This General Council vows to make Puratchi Thalaivi (Revolutionary Leader) Amma assume office as Chief Minister for the sixth time by working efficiently without any self-interest in the elections, by carrying out the instructions of Amma," it said.
The council members also hailed Jayalalithaa's dedication for the party.
