Vijayawada: Vijayawada witnessed tremendous changes in the year 2015 and it is Chief Minister N. Chan-drababu Naidu who largely contributed to the change by shifting his base to the Irrigation office located at Suryarao Pet. This has also set the start of shifting of state capital administration. On June 8 Mr Naidu officially moved his office to the city and continued to stay here all the days.
Mr Naidu’s stay in the city gave an entirely new look to Suryaraopet, particularly the Rythu market road and State Guesthouse road drawing mixed response. While Rythu Bazaar road is half blocked, State Guesthouse road is given a new appealing look. It has also made Vijayawada the centre of active politics once again as several leaders from across the state, bureaucrats, and foreign delegates are making a beeline to the city. Following the Chief Minster, DGP J.V. Ramudu too shifted his camp office close to CM’s camp office in city. Officer’s Club paved way for the DGP’s camp office. However, it was minister for water resources Mr D. Umamaheswara Rao who worked from Vijayawada since assuming charge.
Mr Naidu on August 30 became the first VVIP to have started residing in the capital region by shifting to a guesthouse in Undavalli on the Krishna River bund. Ironically, Undavalli which houses his residence is an anti-Land pooling village whose farmers refused to give away lands to the capital. “In all, 14 roads in Vijayawada would be developed soon. The Centre released Rs 420 crore. Airport terminal construction is set. Flyover works began and many development works took place. The CM’s move to city changed its face. Now my constituency people have easy access to the state’s Chief Minister. It is just because he walked into the city and even risked to stay on a bus ,” said MLA Mr B. Umama-heswara Rao under whose constituency Suryaraopet and other important areas fall.
